TSPAN8 is a transmembrane protein, also known
as Tetraspanin-8. It is a member of the Tetraspanin protein family, primarily
expressed on the cell membrane. TSPAN8 plays important roles in various
biological processes, including cell adhesion, cell signaling, cell
proliferation, and migration.
Studies have shown that the expression levels
of TSPAN8 are elevated in various cancers, such as colorectal cancer, liver
cancer, pancreatic cancer, etc. It is considered a potential cancer biomarker
and may be involved in the initiation and progression of tumors.
Additionally, TSPAN8 has been found to be
associated with diseases such as liver fibrosis, inflammation, etc. Research
on TSPAN8 helps to further understand its role in the development of
diseases, providing new insights for the treatment and diagnosis of related
diseases.
